A Superintendent’s Perspective
Passing the Buck(s) -
Some folks who know my rooting interests may think that my title has something to do with Ohio State making the Final Four. Let’s just call that coincidence….
We are at that critical time of year when school systems are asked – if not forced – to respond to the work that has been done under the Golden Dome. Since my message is dealing with money, I will stick to that side of the political and financial arena. (Believe me though; there is a whole lot more to share in response to the legislative gobbledygook that we have recently experienced.) more - archives |

Donating to the School System
From time-to-time I have been asked about donating to the schools and school system. First of all, please know that we sincerely appreciate your interest in and support of our programs, vision, and most importantly our people.
Giving to a particular school or program is easy to do. It starts with a contact with the building principal or a club sponsor or a coach. This leader will tell you what to do and how to do it. Cash/check donations will require that we give a receipt. And please be sure that on the memo line there is specific mention of the cause, department, or team for which the donation is going.
On occasion people simply want to make a general donation to the school system. This may even include an estate gift! As a member of the Community Foundation, we are now able to receive donations that can grow our ability to bless our students, teachers, and programs. For example, the interest from our account has allowed to offer classroom mini-grants, pay for Teacher of the Year awards, and even help to support special events and field trips.
To participate one need only to send a contribution to the LCBOE, 100 Victory Lane, Barnesville, GA 30204, attn: Dr. Bill Truby. Please make checks payable to LCCF and put education on the memo line.
At any time, please feel free to contact us at 770-358-5891.
Thank you! Dr. Truby, Superintendent

LCMS Hosts Science Enrichment and Acceleration Day
The Georgia Youth Science and Technology Centers, Inc. provides quality programs for teachers of STEM subjects that improve the teaching and learning process at the K-8 levels. They present programs that change students' conceptions and inspire an appreciation for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics subjects. On Saturday, March 3rd, LCMS hosted a science enrichment and acceleration day. GYSTC and our faculty provided an excellent morning of fun and exciting activities.
High School Students Participate in Job Shadowing
On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of LCCHS, we would like to thank our community partners in Barnesville and across 3 counties—dedicated individuals who made this venture possible. On Friday, March 9, nearly 150 freshmen went to work with a parent or chose to shadow someone in a field of interest. Many students expressed their gratitude when they returned to the school later in the afternoon. As always, we recognize that learning takes place both in and out of the classroom. Through this experience, students were able to link education and future success. Once again, thank you for your support.
