Title I

Purpose: The purpose of Title I, Part A is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

The Lamar County School System (LCSS) serves approximately 2700. LCSS has four schools with one building per grade span: PK-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. In addition, the system has the Trojan Learning Center and the Lamar County College and Career Academy located with the high school. The Trojan Learning Center is an instructional program serving at-risk students in sixth to twelfth grades. The Lamar County College and Career Academy is a “school- within- a school” charter serving students at the high school with career and technical skills.

All four of the district's schools receiveTitle I money. Each school has a School Wide Plan that identifies needs for instructionalimprovement, professional learning and family school partnerships.
